It’s impossible to overstate the importance of having a smile that makes you feel confident. If you live in Marysville, Washington, and are interested in Invisalign, Dr. Dan Hwang and the team at Creo Dentistry are here to help.
Our society places high value on a bright smile with beautifully straight teeth. However, many people require orthodontia to help them achieve a perfect smile. If the idea of traditional metal braces intimidates you or makes you apprehensive, there is another solution. Because of Invisalign teeth straightening, you can get your perfect smile without having a mouth full of metal.
What is Invisalign exactly, and what is the process for straightening your teeth with invisible teeth aligners?
Invisalign is a remarkable innovation that can correct malocclusion and mild misalignment. In one way, Invisalign works the same as traditional braces. Invisalign clear aligners move your teeth to a straighter position using consistent but gentle force. However, besides that, Invisalign is completely different from the bulky traditional metal braces many people remember.
You will sometimes see Invisalign referred to as invisible teeth straightening or clear braces. However, Invisalign clear aligners aren’t the same as metal braces. There is no metal involved in the treatment process when you straighten your teeth with Invisalign. Instead, the “braces” are clear, almost invisible aligners.
Invisalign aligners look similar to a traditional mouthguard that athletes often wear when playing sports. Yet, Invisalign is more discrete, and the aligners are very thin.
With Invisalign, you can accomplish all of the following.
The Invisalign process is super easy and efficient. Your dentist doesn’t just rely on standard impressions and x-rays. Your dentist will take more detailed imaging of your teeth and mouth. These images are then sent to a state-of-the-art laboratory where your aligners are created.
At the lab, lab technicians use advanced computer software for the process of creating a detailed map of your teeth as they are in their existing state. Then, expand the map to create a step-by-step animation that will show your teeth through their progression of movement.
That is exciting because you can see exactly what your smile transformation will look like before you even wear your first aligner.
Once you receive your Invisalign clear aligners, you will wear your prescribed aligners daily. The only time you should remove your aligners is for oral care and eating. Every two weeks, you will change to the next set of aligners in the treatment process. You will visit your dentist’s office every few weeks, and your progress will be assessed and the challenges you’re having addressed.
The entire Invisalign process will be finished within six to 18 months. At that time, your retainer will be fitted.
